Once you’ve been added as a contributor to the website, you can update the collections! Read through the guide for instructions on how to add a new item to a collection, using the Collection photos, Exhibition booklet, and object numbers.
Collection photos are organised according to where they will go on the website (this mostly follows the way they were organised in the exhibition at Brighton Museum). If there are two very similar images of the item, only use one.
All of the transcribed tags are in the Exhibition booklet from Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, to find things quicker, use Command + F on a mac or Control + F on windows, to search key words.
You can use the same controls when searching for the object number. If there are a few similar items (like lipstick or binders), look at the object description for more detailed descriptions of the objects. (This spreadsheet was originally used to keep track of the condition of the objects, so the descriptions used here may not be appropriate for the description you use in alt text).
Every time you’ve uploaded a new item to the collection, highlight it in orange on the object numbers spreadsheet, so that everyone knows it’s been done. I’ll then highlight it green once I’ve double checked your work.
If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to email colinlievens@gmail.com, and if you learn in different ways, we could even arrange a call to talk you through the process that way!
